Here is a score sheet for Hunt Seat Equitation. Please print if off and watch the videos stopping them as often as you need to. Try and mark the score sheet and see how you do.
Huntseat Equitation Direction: On a piece of paper, Divide it into two halves. Mark the first half 1 and the second 2
Write down the 3 things about the horse and rider that you notice right away. Such as the color of the horse, does the horse look balanced, dose the horse have good conformation, what color jacket or pants is the rider wearing. These things will help you keep track of the rider when they do rail work and will help for your oral reasons.

Again, Mark your paper for horse 1 & 2. Mark any noticeable issues with conformation, ear pinning, willingness or unwillingness, level at top line, trot, walk and canter movement in each directions. Be sure to note the good and bad points about each horse in this hunter under saddle (pleasure class). Stop the video before the end and Try and come up with a set of oral reasons. Compare your oral reasons to theirs.
Divide a piece of paper in half and half again making 4 boxes on your paper. Write horse 1 on one quarter and horse 2 on the other quarter, 3 on the other box and 4 in the last box. Make notations on the paper such as how the horse travels to the right and then to the left. Is the horse willing? Be sure to write down good and bad points that you can use for oral reasons.
Print the Western Horsemanship Score Sheet to assist you in keeping track of grants and penalties.
Please be sure to have a pen and paper handy for each video to keep notes on each horse and rider. You can pause the video at any time to take your notes at this learning stage.
Some of these classes will run as a PDF file and others will be in the movie format. Make your notes on starting with head and working your way down. Try and make comparison between your top pairs, and middle pairs.
